Embracing hope, faith, and love in the darkness of isolation, fatigue, and despair stabilizes caregiving focus. Spiritual practice provides light on the dark nights and energy for the short days. Use the home as a sanctuary for others to learn the art of caregiving from your family. As a caregiver you will face long dark nights and short light days. Embrace them both for the duration of your choice. Face the task of caregiving with courage, its disappointments with cheer, and its trials with humility. The best advice I have received once I let people know that I needed to increase my role as caregiver for my Dad, was to make sure to take care of myself and to get as much help as I can.
